  • As you may know, sadly in March of 2025, Richard Magner (long time owner of Blimpy) passed away. Since then, his family has worked hard to keep the business open. However, it’s time to pass it along, and we’re happy to take the reins! We just need a few weeks to get things in order, and we’ll be sure to let you know when we’re opening back up!

  • We have a long history with Blimpy and we know what makes it special. Your favorite order will still be here when we reopen - we promise! And, yes, we will still expect you to know exactly how to order it!

  • Yes! We will need to bring on new staff to supplement those that are sticking around. If you’re interested, please click here to fill out an initial applicaiton.

What’s going on?

Krazy Jim’s Blimpy Burger, Ann Arbor’s oldest burger stand and a beloved institution since 1953, is officially entering its next chapter! Following more than 70 years as a local rite of passage, the business has been acquired by a new ownership team dedicated to preserving its unique character and carrying on the legacy of the Magner family following the passing of longtime owners Richard and Chris.

To facilitate the changes and usher in this new era, Krazy Jim’s Blimpy Burger will temporarily close on March 16, 2026 to allow renovations to begin. We intend to reopen the doors by the end of May. Lifelong fans can follow the progress and get the latest updates on the reopening date through our social media channels and the website.
